James K. Creasy

Gillis & Creasy Founding Partner Jim Creasy practices in a variety of areas, including commercial disputes and litigation, insurance coverage, personal injury, professional negligence, and property and real estate litigation. He often speaks for plaintiffs who have been injured and are entitled to money damages. Jim also represents defendants (companies and individuals) who have been sued in state or federal courts. He has tried numerous cases to verdict, and he is experienced in appellant litigation.

Admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1994, Jim began his career in Savannah with Clarke and Clarke, where he represented the Board of Trustees of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Within one year he became In-House Counsel for SCAD and successfully defended the school in complex, multi-party litigation. From that position, he was recruited to Drew Eckl & Farnham in Atlanta and met Lucian Gillis. The two joined forces in 2007.

Equally committed to his family, Jim married Angela, his high school sweetheart, two weeks after graduating law school.  They lived in Savannah, Georgia before moving to Atlanta in 1996, and now have three children, James Stuart, Abigail Rose and Caroline Jane.

A self-proclaimed lover of family, people and English setters, Jim also enjoys sports cars and cooking barbecue. He’s also an avid guitarist and performs with a 1980s cover band for charities. Fun-loving, Jim says his Methodist Christian beliefs run deeply, but he likes to maintain a lighthearted view of life’s complexities.

Angela Creasy

Serving as a Registered Nurse Paralegal and Office Manager since the firm was established, Angela Creasy plays an integral role that ensures operations run smoothly so clients receive excellent service and value. With her background in nursing—ten-years that include managing cases and nursing teams—she facilitates the attorneys’ effectiveness as their in-house resource for reviewing documentation of medical records and claims. Clients also appreciate her compassion and nurturing instinct through their challenging periods.

Her last name is no coincidence. Angela and Jim, who were high school sweethearts, have been happily married since 1994.  They pursued separate careers before the couple began working together in 2004, when their third child was born. Highly efficient in her ability to multitask, Angela is deeply involved in her children’s lives and actively volunteers with their school’s PTA, serves as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and also in the children’s ministry at their church, Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia.
